Why does my CHESS statement show ANZ account details?
When you open a Stake AUS account, your Cash Balance for trading is held in a dedicated account with its own unique BSB and account number, maintained with ANZ.
This account is assigned to your CHESS HIN and is used for funding, settlements, dividends, and other cash movements. You can view your BSB and account number at any time in the Funds & Balances section of the Stake app or desktop platform.
Why are my bank details shared when I buy shares?
When you purchase shares on Stake, you are the legal owner of those shares under your CHESS HIN.
To make this official, Stake is required to notify the relevant share registry (such as Computershare) of your ownership details, including your CHESS HIN and linked Stake Cash Account details.
This allows the share registry to:
Record that you own the shares
Pay dividends to the correct account
Manage corporate actions, shareholder notices, and voting on your behalf.
Why did I receive a letter or email saying my bank details were changed?
You may receive correspondence from the ASX or a share registry stating that your bank details have been changed or amended.
This is normal and usually happens when:
Your HIN details are first registered with a share registry
Please check that the bank details listed in the correspondence match the BSB and account number shown in your Stake app (used for bank transfers).
If the details do not match, contact Stake Support and we’ll resolve it for you.
