Does the U.S. withhold any tax?
Yes. The U.S. withholds tax on dividend payments made to shareholders of U.S.-listed securities. However, no tax is withheld when you sell shares.
Withholding tax rates
15%: For non-U.S. residents who have a completed W-8BEN form
30%: If no tax form has been submitted
U.S. tax residents: Submit a W-9 instead

Australian Tax File Number (TFN)
