Transferring ASX shares to Stake is a simple and seamless process, thanks to our patent-pending, 100% digital transfer process that can be initiated in just a few minutes. Stake does not charge for ASX portfolio transfers into Stake.

Where do I start a transfer?

• Log into your Stake account via the app (if you don’t have one, sign up here)
• Head to More > Portfolio transfers > AUS portfolio transfer
• Follow the prompts

How do I transfer my shares from another broker to Stake (B2B or Broker-to-Broker)?

To bring across your ASX portfolio previously purchased through another broker, it helps to have some information on hand to ensure a smooth transfer process.

What you’ll need

• The Holder Identification Number (HIN) associated with the outgoing shares (the HIN starts with the letter X and is followed by 10 digits to make up 11 characters in total)
• The account number of the outgoing investment platform
• Copy of your ID 
• Your signature 
• Portfolio Report (optional) 

Please note, that the account name and postal address associated with the outgoing shares must match your Stake account.

It’s free to transfer your portfolio to Stake. Please note that your departing platform may charge fees for an outgoing transfer.

How long does it take?

Initiating a share transfer request only takes a few minutes. Once you submit your documents, our Australia-based operations team handles the transfer process with your old broker. On average, stocks reach your Stake HIN within 40 hours.

Transfers can sometimes be delayed due to issues with your outgoing platform. We endeavour to facilitate your transfer request as quickly as possible and will inform you if there are circumstances that delay the process.

Outgoing portfolio transfers

For AUS Share Transfers from Stake to another broker, please confirm with the incoming broker if any fees apply on their end. To initiate an outgoing share transfer, please contact the incoming broker who will look after the process for you. 

How can I edit my average buy price?

We have created an easy process for you to amend your cost basis for your ASX holdings.

Click on to the share detail page of the stock you wish to edit:

• On the company page, scroll down to average buy price
• Click the edit icon next to the numerical value e.g. $0.00 
• Edit the average buy price per share with numerical values
• Select update to reflect the changes

Things to consider

You should retain any statements, dividend statements, trade confirmations, contract notes and bank account statements for your records.
